If you're searching for an authentic Vietnamese egg experience, look no further than Long An Eggs, located at 8942 Bolsa Ave in Westminster, California. This unassuming spot is a treasure trove for fans of traditional Southeast Asian street food, especially the famed balut and other types of duck eggs.

Though the venue may not win any awards for aesthetics—a trait noted by patrons who describe it as “rundown”—there’s a certain charm that comes with its no-frills exterior. Many customers like to emphasize that, despite the surroundings, the generous hospitality of the staff shines bright. The team will gladly guide you through your egg selection, recommending the right size based on how many days the embryos have been incubated, ensuring you leave satisfied.

Egg-cellent Offerings

  • Balut: Perhaps the main attraction here, balut is available in different embryo sizes: small, average, and grown. Regulars appreciate the clarity of having the eggs separated based on their age, a feature that enhances the selection process.
  • Goose Eggs: If you're feeling adventurous, trung ngầng, or goose eggs, are also on the menu. Fans of this delicacy relish the unique flavors that set them apart from duck eggs.
  • Sugar Cane Juice: While you're there, don't miss out on their nước mía (sugarcane juice). Many customers rave about its rich flavor, claiming it's superior to what you might find elsewhere.

One glowing review mentions the staff’s willingness to provide boiling instructions for beginners, further emphasizing their friendly service. Customers attest to the product quality, often praising the freshness of the eggs and the drink. Some even say that Thursday is the best day to come by for the freshest picks!

The place is very rundown but shouldn't matter too much since it's a togo place. Plus the ladies that work there are very nice and kind.

If you're looking for Balut, this is the place to go! I liked that they had it separated by younger vs. older eggs, which made it easier to choose. A few things to keep in mind: * Try to avoid the ones in the fridge since you don't know how long they've been there. * A heavier egg is usually a younger one. If you buy 10, they're $2.50 each, which is a pretty good deal. The lady who helped me spoke English too, which was nice.

i was craving some hột vịt lộn so i yelped this spot and im so happy i did! i don't usually buy them myself cause i've only eaten them at family gatherings or festivals. the one time i got them from a super market, they had feathers and my mom said they were too old. here they'll ask you if you want the duck to be small, average or grown. not grown, no thank you! i picked small and was so satisfied with the ones i got. i asked them how long i should boil them for, they laughed at me and said 25 mins. so there you go, for ppl who don't know. now you don't have to ask haha

I come here for the sugar cane juice! I swear it's better here, like more concentrated or something... other places' juice seems diluted compared to theirs

I got hot vit lon (balut) and trung ngọng (goose eggs) here. As a fan of this popular Southeast Asian street food, I appreciate that they offer different sizes of duck embryos, depending on the number of days they've been incubated. Personally, I prefer the smallest embryos, and the seller is always happy to accommodate my request.

I was craving some Nuóc Mía (aka freshly pressed sugarcane juice), & my partner-in-crime remembered visiting "Hot Vit Lon Long An" during his early days doing patrol many years ago. Off to Westminster we went! If you're looking for one of those trendy Nuóc Mía shops with all the bells-&-whistles, stop reading this right now because you're in the wrong place. Instead, "Hot Vit Lon Long An" is a tiny, no-frills, no-nonsense shop that sells fresh pressed sugarcane juice. They do sell other items, but we were strictly there for the juice. The Nuóc Mía is fresh, & the employees are kind. The only downside: they no longer had fresh kumquat juice as an add-on...they only had a tangerine add-on which made the drink much too sweet for us. I'll probably keep looking for a place that has kumquat (or even lime) as an add-on, but if I return to "Hot Vit Lon Long An," I'll probably order the Nuóc Mía plain...unless they bring the kumquats back. If you're in the area & craving a sweet refreshing drink of natural fresh pressed sugarcane juice, check out "Hot Vit Lon Long An."

Random sugarcane juice place that I found along with eggs and water lol. I think it tastes like regular sugarcane juice to be honest, but apparently their eggs here are REALLY good. Nothing really much to say, sugarcane juice in general is pretty good.

I came here for Balut eggs and I will never go anywhere else. The place is CASH ONLY but it's worth it! Plus they give you a free bag of Rau Ram (vietnamese coriander) with your eggs. The spot may look super dingey and hole in the wall, but that's how you know it's legit. Pro-tip, I am told that thursdays are the best day to pick up eggs as they are the freshest that day.

Craving sugar cane juice and came here. A large size is $7 (no ice $10) or regular size $6 (no ice $8). I got both large, one with no ice and one with ice. I had my 40 ounce thermoflask handy and poured it in the bottle to have for the rest of the day. The juice was fresh, not over sweet and has that balance of sweet and sour from the calamansi. They also sell duck eggs and water by the gallon. This parking lot is insane. It's overly crowded and people walk in the middle of street combined with crazy drivers. I would recommend to park a bit far.
